OMA reveals layered timber arts campus shaped around a public courtyard
September 22
A civic building organized as an open cultural landscape.
The proposed arts campus is arranged as a series of timber volumes gathered around a generous public courtyard. Rather than separating galleries, workshops and performance rooms into isolated wings, the design connects them through covered passages and shared thresholds. Deep façades filter daylight while giving the building a clear rhythm at street level. The project presents culture as an everyday public activity, allowing exhibitions, rehearsals and informal gatherings to remain visible from the surrounding neighborhood.
